Ed Fagan Inc add Molybdenum TZM Rod, Sheet and Plate to it’s catalog

August 29th, 2006
Ed Fagan Incorporated has added Moly TZM from STC/Plansee to broaden it’s stock list of Refractory products. Molybdenum TZM is alloy of  .5% Titanium, .07% Zirconium, Bal Molybdenum.

The most significant advantage of TZM is that above 2000°F it has Exceptional strength and stiffness,  good thermal conductivity, low emissivity, low vapor pressure, resists corrosion, ductile and Machinable.    TZM should be considered for all structural parts operating over 2000°F.

Ed Fagan Inc adds Carpenter VimVar Core Iron to it’s Stock

August 29th, 2006
Ed Fagan Inc announces that it has added a broad range of diameters of Carpenter Vim Var Core Iron to its inventory in Franklin Lakes, NJ.  These bars are stocked in 12 foot random lengeths and can be cut to your requirements.

Vim Var Core Iron Diameters

.750" 1.75" 4.125"
.835" 2.375" 5.500"
1.000" 2.625" 6.000"
1.250" 3.000" 10.250"

Carpenter VIM VAR Core Iron is a low carbon magnetic iron produced using vacuum induction melting plus vacuum arc remelting practices.  Other elements commonly found in low carbon irons are held as low as possible to ensure good DC magnetic properties.

This double melting technique controls the distribution of nonmetallic inclusions to a minimum length and frequency so that thin wall sections will not contain leaks due to internal discontinuities.

Carpenter VIM VAR Core Iron is often used in the manufacture of soft magnetic components where vacuum integrity is needed such as in power tubes and microwave devices.  In addition, relays, solenoids, and magnetic pole pieces for scientific instruments may be made utilizing the qualities of VIM VAR Core Iron.

Ed Fagan Newletter Vol 1

July 21st, 2006

ED FAGAN INC. supplies the highest quality specialty metals and special purpose alloys to companies with specialized requirements, from Fortune 500 companies to one-man machine shops. We are large enough to meet your material needs and nimble enough to respond to the unexpected challenges. EFI is your partner for success.

ED FAGAN INC. Goes the Extra Mile (or 147 miles) for our Customers Monday, February 20, 2006, Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, EFI received a 911 call from a castings manufacturer serving the aerospace, biomedical, automotive, power generation, and other specialized industries. Up against a deadline, they desperately needed six ¼”x2”x52” molybdenum rails to hold the baskets in their vacuum heat treating furnaces. EFI’s deep inventory included the necessary molybdenum plate (¼”x12”x72”) from which the rails could be cut; however they required specialty cutting on a water jet cutter. Scott Williams, Account Manager, put the plates in his car, drove the 147 miles to the cutter, and waited while the plates were cut. The rails were delivered to our customer Tuesday morning, less than 24 hours after the call came in. EFI offers technical assistance. We suggested to this manufacturer that Moly TZM, an alloy with a higher heat tolerance than molybdenum, might be an even better solution for the furnaces which reach 1300o C, the upper limit for molybdenum. TZM remains stable and functional to temperatures of 1650 o C. The customer is now testing both products to determine which one is most cost-effective. ED FAGAN INC. is a U.S. based, family owned business that for over forty years has been solving the specialty metal and alloy material needs of the heat treating, aerospace, telecom, optics, electronic, and many other industries with exacting specifications. We are the supplier of choice, offering the highest quality materials, an unsurpassed depth of inventory, and superior customer service. We stock the material so you don’t have to. And if we do not have it in stock, we will get it for you.
