Refractory metals and alloys are extraordinarily resistant to heat, wear, and corrosion. Because of these properties they are useful in many high temperature applications where high melting points, good strength at elevated temperatures, good thermal and electrical conductivity, low coefficient of expansion, and low vapor pressure at elevated temperatures are required.
Typical applications include: furnace components, glass-to-metal seals, electrodes, electrical contacts, semi-conductor equipment, heat exchangers, heating coils, welding electrodes, medical apparatus, lamp components and filaments, etc.
