Electrical and electronic Nickel 200 (UNS N02200) is commercially pure (99.0%) wrought nickel. It’s composition and properties are specified in ASTM B160 and ASTM B162.


The grades Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 (UNS N02201) are similar, but differ by the limits of the carbon content. Nickel 201 has less carbon, 0.02% max by weight for better formability. We stock Electronic Nickel 200 and 201 in Round Bar | Rod, Sheet and Strip | Coil.


Nickel 233 (UNS N02233) is a form of pure nickel with controlled magnesium and silicon content and essentially free from titanium. Ed Fagan Inc. stocks Nickel 233 in sheet form.


Unalloyed Nickel is one of only four elements that are magnetic at or near room temperature. The other elements are iron, cobalt and gadolinium. In electronic applications, electronic grade nickel can be found in anode plates, hydrogen thyratron components, passive cathodes, cathode shanks, plater bars and transistor enclosures.


Nickel 200, 201 and 233 have good mechanical properties. They exhibit excellent resistance to many corrosive environments – from neutral to mildly reducing. Other useful features of the these alloys are:

  • Magnetic and magnetostrictive properties
  • High thermal and electrical conductivities
  • Low gas content
  • Low vapor pressure


The chemical compositions are specified in ASTM B160 (UNS N02200/UNS N02201) and ASTM B162 (UNS N02200/N02201). It is readily fabricated using standard techniques.
