Invar is an austenitic alloy that is strong, tough, ductile and possesses a useful degree of corrosion resistance. It is magnetic at temperatures below its Curie point as well as non-magnetic at temperatures above. Invar is the standard “go to alloy” for low expansivity up to 400°F.
Standard grade of Invar alloy is produced in sheet form to conform to ASTM F1684, AMS I 23011 (chemistry only) and UNS K93603 standards. Also, this alloy has been trademarked and can also be referenced under their manufacturer names of CarTech® Invar 36® Alloy, NILO® 36 and Pernifer® 36.
