Tungsten Description

Tungsten possesses many properties similar to those of molybdenum, however with Tungsten they are more pronounced than they are in molybdenum.  Tungsten has the highest melting point of all metals. It also has the highest tensile strength of all metals at temperatures above 1650 °C.  Tungsten has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, low vapor pressure at elevated temperatures, high dimensional stability, good creep behavior and an extremely high modulus of elasticity.  It is employed in operations in which the highest application temperatures are found especially as components in high temperature furnaces and as lamp components.
