Soft Magnetic Alloys Product Portfolio
Ed Fagan Inc. (EFI) Alloy 50 is a soft magnetic alloy comprised of 49% nickel and the balance iron. It is used where high initial permeability, maximum permeability and low core loss is needed. EFI Alloy 50 is known by the following trade names: Magnifer 50®, CarTech High Permeability 49® and Alloy 4750.
EFI Alloy 79 is a soft magnetic alloy consisting of 80% nickel, 4.5% molybdenum and the remaining balance is iron. EFI Alloy 79 is applicable where extremely high initial, maximum permeability and minimum hysteresis is needed. EFI Alloy 79 is also referenced under the following manufacturer trade names: Magnifer 7904®, CarTech HyMu 80®, CarTech® Hipernom® and Moly Permalloy 80.
CarTech® Hiperco® 50A, 50 and 50 HS are iron-cobalt-vanadium soft magnetic alloys. Hiperco 50, 50A and 50HS are comprised of approximately 49% cobalt and 2% vanadium. The addition of niobium (columbium) to the chemistry of Hiperco® 50 and Hiperco 50 HS increases the products strength.
Hiperco 50A is primarily a wrought product, it is used in strip form for non-rotating components such as stators.
CarTech Hiperco® 50 HS is a Carpenter Technology alloy capable of producing a higher yield strength than conventional CarTech Hiperco® 50 alloy. CarTech Hiperco® 50 HS is used primarily in laminations for high speed generators and magnetic bearings.
These alloy exhibits the highest magnetic saturation of any other commercial alloys and excel in applications where this attribute is needed. These alloys have higher mechanical strength than other soft magnetic alloys
EFI’s Core Iron (VIM VAR) is a low carbon magnetic iron produced using vacuum induction melting plus vacuum arc re-melting practices (VIM VAR). Other trace elements commonly found in low carbon irons are held as low as possible to ensure good DC magnetic properties. Double vacuum melting minimizes nonmetallic inclusions so that thin wall sections will not contain leaks due to internal discontinuities. EFI Core Iron (VIM VAR) is also known as CarTech® Vacumet Consumet Core Iron®.
